I installed a “Sustainiac” pickup system in this Ibanez RG series guitar. This involves not only installing the pickup into the neck position but also installing the circuit board via the rear of the guitar while allowing the switching to be accessed from the front. The rear routing also has to allow for a shallow edge for the cover.
I wanted to keep things as simple as possible and managed to accommodate the battery into the rear cavity which actually connected with the front control cavity. Otherwise, I would’ve had to remove more wood by installing a separate battery box. I coated the rear cavity with insulating paint to help minimise interference.
