This bass belongs to Cormac Moore from The Late Late Show band “The Camembert Quartet. As such it’s probably the most visible bass on Irish T.V. today.
The problem was that the neck lacquer was wearing away and deteriorating. With maple this can lead to all sorts on sweat and grime getting deep in to the tight grain. Over time this can result in the growth of “foreign bodies” in the wood. So, as it’s a hard working gigging bass, to pre-empt this we decided the best long term thing to do was to completely strip the lacquer from the neck (apart from the facia). The new lacquer was tinted to match the headstock facia , keeping with the aged look of the bass dated Jan 1980
